A Conversation With A Serial Killer On The Loose - 916 Words
I remember seeing and hearing his name on the news. To be honest I was so intrigued and there was just this feeling like I knew him. He was a so called rapist and killer, I became so interested in him I read newspapers and watched so many news reports on him. They never caught him so they only had sketches of what they thought he looked like...So it started when I was in my room listening to music on my IPod. You see I m not the kind of girl who obeys rules or respects anyone or anything. I don t care about consquences, I never really think things threw. So being the way I am, I would sneak out every night around 3 a.m, the witching hour. Yeah I know I know. What?! Why would you sneak out with a serial killer on the loose?!? Like Iâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It was pretty cool, it wasn t those kind of dance clubs more of like a rock/metal concert where they would play all my favorite bands. There was a live band there so of course therees was all kinds of girls wanting the band pl ayers. I never really cared for celebrity type. As I sasid before I didn t care. I really miss that place. Looking back to that night now, I remember seeing him but I never really noticed him. He was usually in the back as well, just watching people. After my usual night, I began walking home, seeing the same car as before I sped up my walk. When I got home, I didnt even change before bed. I just layed on my bed drifting off to sleep. He placed his hand over my mouth and I immediately woke up. I was terrified, I looked over at the window as it was wide open. I looked up at him, he seemed worried and scared. At that moment, I knew it was the guy from the club. This was the man on the T.V they called a killer. He yelled, Don t scream! All I could do was roll my eyes. I guess he liked the way I showed no fear because, he picked me up with me facing his back and climbed out the window. I thought he was a killer like the news said, but I wasn t afraid. He put me in the passenger side of the car I saw driving by my house. As we drove off, I looked back at my house saying goodbye one last time. Honestly, I was kind of glad he took me away. I hated being there. I hated everyone at school. I hated everyone in my

What I Learned from my Autistic Brother free essay sample
When I was young, I knew my brother was different. It didnââ¬â¢t seem important to me until some of my friends asked, ââ¬Å"Whatââ¬â¢s wrong with him?â⬠At first I didnââ¬â¢t understand what they meant because I didnââ¬â¢t think there was something ââ¬Å"wrongâ⬠with him. I asked my parents, and they told me that my brother had autism and cerebral palsy. When I went to kindergarten, my brother had already been at the same school for several years in the special education program. When he saw me in the halls, he always wanted to hug me, and I was incredibly embarrassed. I didnââ¬â¢t want to feel this way because I loved my brother, but I thought others would laugh at me for displaying any connection. If I saw him, I would try to hide behind friends, or walk down a different hallway. I felt ashamed of my behavior, but I couldnââ¬â¢t help it. We will write a custom essay sample on What I Learned from my Autistic Brother or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Sometimes I wished I had a normal brother, but I never told anyone. I felt regret when I found myself thinking this way. Eventually, we parted ways when I went to middle school. We werenââ¬â¢t enrolled in the same facility again until my junior year at high school. Since the school didnââ¬â¢t want to pay for a special education bus to bring Gabriel to school, I was responsible to get him on and off the bus and bring him to his classroom in the morning. My past selfish thoughts resurfaced when I had to chaperone him onto the bus. My first thoughts were ââ¬Å"I donââ¬â¢t want to do this; Iââ¬â¢m not responsible for him.â⬠But reluctantly, I said yes because I donââ¬â¢t like arguing with my parents. However, after the first couple of bus rides, I realized I enjoyed taking Gabriel off the bus and bringing him to his class. It was a game for both of us. I spent the first six weeks teaching him how to simply get to his classroom; telling him which direction we were he ading and when we should make a left or right turn. Later, I asked him directional questions and he would answer them. Sometimes he would get them wrong, but I would gently correct him and tell him the proper direction. By the third month he had two routes memorized. I would still get him off the bus to make sure he was taking one of the two correct routes. Later in the year, I didnââ¬â¢t have to watch him anymore, because I knew that he knew his way. Eventually I started finding my own way. I saw myself emulating the same patterns of persistence that my brother portrayed in the hallway. With my school work, Iââ¬â¢d ask myself more questions and work harder in order to achieve the results I wanted. These experiences made me become more compassionate and encompassing of people who are different than I am. I can see myself taking on more challenges in college. Now I am less fearful about trying something new. I thank my brother Gabriel for teaching me these lessons.

Why We Lie Essay Example
Why We Lie Paper Why we lie Lying has been around since the creation of human. Adam and Eve lied to god because they were scared after they ate from the forbidden apple tree. There are lots of reasons that could make people tell lies, Even though each reason might be different from the other in the end they all of them stem from one root cause which is being unable to bear the consequences of telling the truth. On the other hand, sometimes we lie because the truth may hurt someone we care about so we lie and from there we find some reasons why people lie. A guy and a girl have been married for more than five years. After all these years, one day the girl told the guy that she had lied to him many years ago about her previous love relationships! Infect when the guy and girl first met and started dating, the girl told the guy that he is her first and only boyfriend (love). .They got married after a long dating season. About five years later, the girl thought that she has to tell the truth to her husband and told him that she dated three other guys before him! The girl lied to him because she was afraid that the guy would not accept her as she was if she would have told him that she dated three other guys before him and maybe that she had sex with them too! The husband smiled at his wife and said ââ¬Å"that is fine honey, because you lied for a good reason just to keep me by youâ⬠. From this short story, we learn that lying can be used for good reasoning and it is not always bad. Moreover, when a person loves someone so much he/she will do anything to stay with that person including lying, and this type of lying is usually called white lie. I love it! â⬠This type of white lie is told because telling someone that their gift was undesirable would make the teller look like an inconsiderate being. On the other hand, lying is not always for a good reason even if people try because they do not want to hurt someoneââ¬â¢s feelings. A doctor had a clinic that was located next to a coffee shop where he buys his morning coffee every day before going to work. At the coffee shop there was a beautiful woman working there and the guy liked her and someday he asked her out. As they were dating, the guy told everything about his past to the girl and asked her too says everything about her past. The girl told the guy that she had four boyfriends before and that she had no sexual relationship with any of them, and that one of them cheated on her with her best friend. She also told the guy that she has had some minor flirt relationships and kissed two other guys. The two of them dated for about ten months and everything was going as smooth as silk until the girl decided that it is time to tell the truth to her current boyfriend. So the girl told the guy that she lied and did not tell him about another guy with whom she had a relationship in the past. She told him that she met the guy on a social network some time ago before she started dating him and that she had sexual relationship with him and with another one. The boyfriend was very angry when he heard this fact after ten months of dating. The guy responded to the girl by saying ââ¬Å"if you would have told me the truth from the beginning, i would have stayed with you but now it is too late I cannot trust you anymoreâ⬠. The girl lied to the guy because she wanted to stay with him for money only and not because she liked him. There are many reasons to lie and one of them is like the story above. Lying to others has good benefits for others to prevent from falling into their own problems and escape them but at the end they will get hurt because lying does not last for long time. Once people learn how to lie successfully, they tend not to forget it because of the many benefits it brings. It is an art that progresses slowly from childhood into the adult years all the way to the last day we live. People lie to themselves and others for various reasons; some lie to make their story more compelling, a few lie to get them out of trouble, and others, such as lawyers, lie because they are accustomed to it. Even though people regard lying as a terrible thing, it is not. Lying does have its advantages.

Free Essays on Underlying Meanings In ââ¬ÅA Rose For Emilyââ¬Â
Underlying Meanings In ââ¬Å"A Rose for Emilyâ⬠Most stories, even books for younger audiences, have some sort of underlying meaning. All that this means is that generally there is more that just a story, rather the story is a tool used to get a different point across. Beneath the surface of William Faulkner's "A Rose for Emily," it tells a story of the Old Southââ¬â¢s lingering presence in a more modern time. After being the only man in her life, by not allowing any man to have a relationship with her, Emily's father died and naturally she found it difficult to let go (love). Emily was raised during the pre-Civil War era and carries an out of date view of society like her father once did. Emily possessed a stubborn outlook towards life, and refused to change. In the story, Emilyââ¬â¢s views are used to represent the Old South, as well as set up other situations in which change has not occurred. She represented the ideas and mores of a society that was crushed by both the war and its eventual defeat for example when Miss Emily is referred to as a ââ¬Å"Fallen Monumentâ⬠(p87) representing the falling of a part of the old southern culture (A Rose for Emily). This story, on the exterior appears to be little more than a horror story. However, it is clear that Faulkner intends to show much more than that. He wants us to see how Emily, the representative of the Old South, faired agai nst the beginning of the new society. Faulkner uses a unique structure to achieve his goal. As the book progressed there was not a steady progression of time, the conflicting order is just another way in which he is able to show conflict between the old and new south. The order of the story moves from present to past and back to present, the story shows the differences in people from past times and present times. For example Colonel Sartorisââ¬â¢ story that the town owed Miss Emily money from a loan her father had given. ââ¬Å"Only a man of Colonel Sartorisââ¬â¢ gen... The role of the banks in terms of decreasing unemployment, maintaining Essay
The role of the banks in terms of decreasing unemployment, maintaining price stability and facilitating economic growth - Essay Example Capitalism tends towards the idea that organizations are in good luck when they make significant profits but its tough luck when they make significant losses, getting neither sympathy nor envy. However, the economy today is not a pure free market but, rather, it is a mixed economy, in which the markets are regulated by a government instituted framework. In addition, the government also carries out various functions, instead of leaving the private sector to make decisions (Mitchell, 2014: p61). The banking sector is a prime example because of their importance to the economy, including management of loan and savings facilities. The banking crisis of 2007 initially led to a rush by UK citizens to withdraw their money all at once, meaning that banks would have failed since they would have been unable to pay, portending potentially incalculable damage to the UK economy. It was, therefore, the responsibility of government agencies to stabilize the system by supervising banking activities and propping up banks that threatened to destabilize the system through bailouts (Cordella & Levy-Yeyati, 2013: p34). In essence, it is the people owed money by the banks that the government is bailing out. In addition, some of the biggest investment banks in the world are institutions that are so critical to the market and job creation that they have gradually come under the control of the government. This explains the bailout of AIG by the US government with a $100 billion loan that ensured American businesses would not collapse if they suffered losses, hurting national employment levels. Takeover of big mortgage guarantors in the UK, such as Bradford and Bingley, was also necessary because, in spite of its private shareholding, it was a de facto agency of the government and, in effect, the public (Cordella & Levy-Yeyati, 2013: p35). Failing to nationalize the company would have

Computer Ethics and Its Issues That Concern IT Professionals Essay
Computer Ethics and Its Issues That Concern IT Professionals - Essay Example Computer professionals need to know the boundaries of using the confidential information to avoid invasion of the people's privacy. The basics still settles down into knowing what is good and evil. One of the most basic and the most significant requirement of man is ethics. In order for him to understand the nature of good and evil, he has to have ethics that would explain to him these two opposing ideas. Doing what is right and what is wrong is determined by a person's ethics. Bahm (1994) defines ethics as a science that involves theory and practice. The theories derived out of a person's behaviour should as well be tested and clarified based from the resulting situation. At the same time, both personal and social aspects of man are interdependent such that each individual has his or her own values that enable him to tell whether the choices he made are right or wrong. Because of his values innate in him - for which the concept of ethics was drawn from - is dictated by man's oughtness which "consists in the power that an apparently greater good has over an apparently lesser good, or an apparently lesser evil has over an apparently greater evil, or an apparent good had over an apparent evil, in compelling choices" according to Bahm. Thus, man's choices are dictated by his values for which ethics evaluates and judges, and eventually be practised by his oughtness. (Bahm, p 27, 1994) Ethics isEthics is used to criticise, defend, promote, justify and suggest moral concepts and to answer the questions that concerns morality. (http://www.galilean-library.org/int11.html, para 2, Sept. 21, 2006) Moreover, Baase's (2003) concept of ethics is as simple and as basic as "doing the right thing." Therefore, behaving ethically goes down to the most common and the simplest basis of human good - that is being honest, keeping promises, doing the job well, and not stealing. Ethics had become popular in studying philosophy even during the ancient times. Furthermore, it has been continuously studied and given as much attention since it plays a major role in the formation of man's personality and the society as well where man is a member of. The role of man in the society, therefore, made ethics an important issue that needs to be given as much attention. Since ethics is generally an extensive theme, philosophers break it into several branches that cater to the different aspects of life. Some of these branches of ethics are business ethics, medical ethics, educational ethics, law and order ethics, and so on. Depending on the nature of the ethical branch, a set of codes are identified. Computer Ethics A. History In the 1940's, during the World War II, MIT professor Norbert Wiener saw the social and ethical consequences concerning the technologies used at that time. Therefore, he decided to create a new field of research he called "cybernetics" - the science of information feedback system. He was well aware even before the atomic
